My name is Dean Harlem and I'm a beekeeper and honey producer in Portland, Tennessee. I started keeping bees simply to have pollinators around for my garden, little did I know I would become totally enamored and fascinated by honeybees. Two hives became three, then five, and now I have 12 colonies in my rapidly-expanding apiary. And most recently my honey was awarded 1st place at the honey taste contest at the Gallatin Farmers Market Bee Day in Sumner County, TN. There is always something new to learn about (and from) honey bees and it's one of my joys to share this love of honeybees. I'm a full time singer-songwriter and beekeeping is my hobby and a way for me to connect with nature and my local community. I created Dean's Tennessee Honey for the purpose of bringing people together around a shared love of bees, husbandry and of course, locally made honey.
